Power and flight threat from solar storm heading to Earth

Airlines and energy suppliers are on alert after an explosion on the surface of the Sun led to an enormous magnetic storm that is heading to Earth with the power to disrupt power lines, satellite navigation systems and flight paths.

The Met Office says it is warning the Government and relevant industries as a precaution:
