An exclusive investigation by ITV News has revealed the less obvious casualties of the war in Afghanistan.

The growing numbers of servicemen and women who return from the frontline, limbs and bodies in tact, but suffering from mental health problems which can also prove fatal.

Lance Sergeant Dan Collins was unable to cope with what he witnessed and took his own life on New Year's Day.

The former Defence Secretary, Dr Liam Fox, has told ITV News that even though there have been improvements in the care offered to our Armed Forces there are still 'glaring weaknesses'.
