8 things we learnt on day 18

Sometimes all it takes is the arrival of a 5'10" blonde supermodel to make you realise how much you like someone. And the threat of losing her man was very real for Yewande, as he started to think about giving up on the scientist after days of hard graft. Arabella got to know both Danny and Anton a bit better after choosing the pair for her dates, and as she settled into the villa life, Danny and Yewande admitted their feelings and gave us hope once more. Here's what we learnt on day 18.

1. Arabella was one hell of a wake up call for the Islanders

Taking 'legs for days' to a whole new level, our Islanders (read: Curtis) couldn't believe their eyes when stunning model Arabella was waiting for them in the garden.

2. The Islander’s reactions to Arabella were all of us

“Curtis said there was a new girl in the garden. He was of course lying, there is a supermodel in the garden," Amy exclaimed, while Anna told the Beach Hut: “She’s like a gorgeous girl, so tall, she was really pretty. I was stood in my PJs half asleep like, oh wow."

Same girls, same.

3. We've never seen Anton move so fast

Word of the new blonde bombshell soon reached Anton, who practically teleported up to the shower and almost took Lucie out in the process as he prepped himself to make a good first impression on Arabella. Factor 0 to factor 50 in 0.2 seconds... oh, Anton.

4. Anna is the ultimate voice of reason

Pranging out after Arabella picked Danny for a date, Anna was the Islander to call out Yewande’s envy - in the way that friends can. “Firstly, I think we’re jumping the gun a bit now. We’re jumping to conclusions, he’s just going on a date.”

See here more proof that Anna is the BFF we all need.

5. Michael was basically Anton’s dad

Buzzing to hear he'd been picked as Arabella's second date, Anton could barely contain himself as he bounced around the bedroom getting ready. All too aware of the Scot's less than successful track record in the villa, Michael stepped in to offer Anton some pearls of wisdom - iron in hand to make sure his boy had the smooth garms to match his smooth chat up lines.

“Anton don’t try and kiss her, don’t tell her you love her. And whatever you do, don’t try and compare her to another girl," the firefighter warned.

6. We’re just going to leave this here…

Two words: Body. Language.

Brrrrr.

7. Good friends will tell you what you need to hear (even if you don’t want to hear it)

After a difficult day watching her crush crack on with a supermodel, Yewande faced a few friendly home truths from her mates about her relationship with Danny. "That girl is gonna take your man if you don’t buck your ideas up," Amber told her, before she and Curtis used a bit of role play to improve her flirting technique, complete with critique from Anna, Amy and Michael.

"Stop. See the little touches? The flirty eyes?" Michael pointed out.

8. Sign us up for the School of Love

After a pep talk from her pals and a few lessons from the School of Love, Yewande decided to finally make her feelings for Danny clear to him. With a big dose of courage (and a stunning supermodel about to steal her man), she told him: “I do really like you, I do really fancy you and I wanna get to know you. I feel like I’m ready now to be more affectionate," as they went in for a kiss, and we all breathed a huge sigh of relief.

"That’s what I wanted to hear. You’ve made me so happy hearing all that," Danny replied, beaming.

School of Love: 1, Insecurities: 0.
