Love Island

Five things we learnt on day 43

Oh. Hell. Apparently a dumping at the Island Beach Club party wasn't enough drama - Caroline then delivered the most shocking plot twist to date. Georgia and Sam were forced to choose between staying together and staying on the Island, and after plenty of tears and tantrums the pair decided to part ways - baffling the other Islanders in the process. Before they could even reapply their sunscreen, the new singles were heading out on dates with four smoking hot new arrivals, leaving their relationship hanging by a thread. Here's what we learnt on day 43.

1. We really weren’t ready for that plot twist

Charlie and Ellie had barely walked out the door after being dumped, but there were still some surprises in store for the remaining vulnerable couples. After the rest of the Islanders chose to save Wes and Megan, it left Sam and Georgia with a big decision to make - whether to leave the Island as a couple or split up and keep their place in the villa. That little alfresco dance off REALLY took a turn, didn’t it?

2. Carpentry has nothing to do with carpets

Poor Paul the carpenter. Our hot new man was simply trying to explain his job to Georgia on their date when it became clear that she had absolutely no idea what a carpenter does. Clue: NOT laying carpets babe.

3. The wisdom of Jack strikes again

After Sam and Georgia took the difficult decision to break up and stay on the Island rather than leave together arm-in-arm, the remaining Islanders were mighty confused by the logic.

“She said she’s not a quitter,” remarked Dani back at the villa. “But it’s not about quitting in here… it’s about finding someone you genuinely like.”

“Yeah, it’s not a f****** assault course!” agreed Jack.

All these hurdles would suggest otherwise...

4. Sam’s surname really is the gift that keeps on giving

Another date, another chance for Sam to whip out the surname chat - have you heard, his name is Bird? It worked on Samira, and then on Ellie, and third time’s a charm for lucky surfer Laura. Not only is her surname Crane aka a type of bird, but she’s gone a step further and had one tattooed on her arm. You know what’s even cuter than that guys? Matching tattoos. Just a thought for if things go well…

5. Even Dani has a limit

She’s displayed epic levels of patience with her unpredictable friend, but even Dani’s had enough of Georgia’s drama. Trying to give her pal a little reality check, the chat soon escalated into an argument that ended with Georgia storming off. “Bore off, you’re getting on my nerves,” Dani told her as she walked away. Looks like this friendship’s in Dyer straits…
