Love Island

7 things we learnt on day 23

What. A. Day.

It was a rollercoaster ride on day 23 with many ups, downs, loops and the occasional sudden drop (we're talking about your snog, Arabella and Danny). The Islanders were completely split after Yewande's heart-wrenching departure, Curtis gave Kanye a run for his money and a spot of eyebrow plucking revealed that Tommy is only a tough guy when he's INSIDE the ring.

Here's what we learnt.

1. The villa was well and truly divided

Brrr... the villa was feeling FROSTY after Yewande's departure, with the Islanders completely split into two camps. Team Yewande aka Amber, Anna, Amy, Michael, Tommy, Molly-Mae, Curtis, Jordan and Tom vs Team Darabella who had Maura, Anton and Lucie by their sides.

It all kicked off when Danny and Arabella cracked on and shared a kiss in full view of the busy garden. At least Maura was pleased for them, stating: "You're in here for only a certain amount of time and look how happy they are right now".

Some might say she's got a point.

2. You can go from hero to zero VERY quickly

We were all here for Jordan and his B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L recoupling speech, but things quickly took a nose dive for him and Anna once Yewande had said her goodbyes. The pharmacist was less than impressed when Jordan called her childish in front of the other Islanders, and he then got called out the following morning for ONLY giving her a 30-second snog in bed. How. Dare. He.

But things seemed to be back on track the next morning, with the help of a few ground rules from Anna:

  • Loads of kisses and affection.

  • Be EXTRA nice.

Got that, Jordan?

3. Being a pro boxer doesn't mean you're up for having your eyebrows plucked

We feel you Tommy. We've ALL been there.

(Molly-Mae doesn't seem to be enjoying this. Not one bit...)

4. Curtis is a lyrical genius

This is definitely some Grammy-worthy material we have right here...

Yo hello, Here we go,Sit your a** on the floor,Let's take this slow!

Absolutely groundbreaking.

5. Hugs will fix ANYTHING

Anton nervously plucked up the courage to talk to Amber and Anna after all THAT drama, but there was no reason for our Scot to be scared as Amber assured him, "we're not evil". Good to know, Amber. Good to know.

Any headache from the previous night was put to bed with the help of a big ol' snuggle and we all breathed a huge sigh of relief. Hugs really are powerful, people.

6. Subliminal messaging sometimes needs to be more obvious

Go on, zoom in and have a read of those tiny words on Curtis's top.

Okay. We'll tell you - it asks something VERY DIFFICULT of our Islanders... "No drama please". An ironic choice of outfit on such a dramatic night in the villa. We wonder if Curtis has any other helpful t-shirts packed away that might stand more of a chance? "Don't hug me", "Feed me toasties" or "Please don't talk to me about your love life"?

Sold out for the summer: "Be the clock."

7. Curtis and Tommy made their bromance official

Tommy and Curtis really are friendship goals - and we're completely and utterly obsessed with the bromance these two bezzies share. It's just SO pure. This pair took themselves up to the roof terrace for a DMC to overshadow even the finest recoupling speech, admitting their feelings to each other.

And just when we thought we'd reached peak cheese, Curtis pulled out an inspirational quote to rival one of Tommy's as he gushed: "I believe that life is a test, and love is a prize".

Wow. Just wow.
