Sally's smoothies and flavoured water recipes!

Much has been discussed about the new sugar tax on fizzy drinks. Sugar is a huge problem for our health but it shouldn’t end there. So-called diet fizzy drinks can be just as damaging to health with their high chemical sweetener content.

You need to understand why you are drinking. If it’s because your mouth is parched, it is telling you that you are dehydrated and the healthiest option is water. Of course our palettes are incredibly sophisticated these days so I have some wonderful ways to spruce up any humble glass of water. This is what I call ‘Fruish’. Fizzy or still water flavoured with fresh fruit, and sometimes a slurp of chemical free elderflower cordial or runny honey. It’s as easy as that!

Fruity flavoured water!

Make drinking water exciting again by following one of these simple and delicious recipes!

  • Gingerlicious – 1cm grated fresh ginger and a teaspoon of runny honey - stirred well

  • Cucumber, mint and lemon – 3 ingredients squished together in the glass of sparkling water with a teaspoon of runny honey

  • Red berry virgin sangria – Red/blue berries squished together in the glass of water with squirt of Elderflower Cordial

  • Pink grapefruit – 2 chunks of grapefruit, with 3 strawberries and a squirt of elderflower cordial
