Killer Women with Piers Morgan

As I sat there looking at her I thought, 'My God, you're the most dangerous person I've ever been as close to in my life and I have no explanation, after an hour of interviewing her, of why you did this' ...

Piers Morgan on interviewing Erin Caffey who, at the age of just 16, masterminded the brutal murder of her entire family

Hot footing his way over from the Good Morning Britain studio, Piers Morgan joins Lorraine to talk about his gripping new ITV series, Killer Women, which sees him interview some of America's most dangerous female prisoners.

In the new two-part documentary, Piers travels across the southern states of Texas and Florida to meet some of the USA's most notorious female murderers in a quest to discover what can drive some women to kill.

In the first episode, Piers travels to Gatesville, Texas, to meet 24-year-old Erin Caffey who, at the age of just 16, masterminded the brutal murder of her entire family.

Recalling his ''chilling'' encounter with Erin, Piers told Lorraine: "She was the nearest to evil I've ever seen because she seemed so apparently normal."

Erin will remain behind bars until she is almost 60 years old and in a gripping encounter, Piers draws from Erin what made an apparently typical teen-aged girl conspire with her boyfriend to kill her mum, dad and two younger brothers.

In the next installment, he meets one survivor of the tragedy, Erin's father Terry, who was shot five times and crawled out of his burning home on the night he lost the rest of his family. Now, Terry has made an incredible choice: he has forgiven Erin and still goes to see her in prison every month.

''It's an extraordinary story of brutality and the human power of forgiveness," Piers told Lorraine.

Killer Women starts on ITV at 9pm on Wednesday 11th May.
