Corrie comeback for Sherrie Hewson?

Could Sherrie Hewson be reprising her role as Coronation Street's much-loved character Maureen Webster?

The former Loose Women panellist and Benidrom star ventured onto the street as Kevin Webster's mum in 1993 but left in 1997 when her character started a new adventure in Germany.

Talking of a possible Weatherfield return, Sherrie, who was on the show to promote her starring role in Aladdin the stage show, said never say never...

''Well, Maureen is still in Germany. I'm still there so, yes, she could come back from Germany.

''My heart is still there in Coronation Street.

''I loved it. I don't think the character finished. I think she could go back, but stronger - she was a bit of a wimp!''

She went on: ''She could throw Kevin out of the garage. She could have an affair with...I love Chris Gascoyne (who plays Peter Barlow).''
