Jenny Powell opens up about her post-natal depression: 'I woke up and couldn't feel my legs'
'I COULDN'T FEEL MY LEGS' JENNY POWELL OPENS UP ABOUT EXPERIENCING POST-NATAL DEPRESSION
Jenny opened up on the show about her experience of post-natal depression after having her second daughter, telling Andrea, Stacey, Janet and Nadia, 'I definitely lost my confidence and self-esteem during postnatal depression, I didn't want to work again.'
'I had this baby lying next to me and I couldn't relate to her,' Jenny explained. 'There was one morning in January, Pollyanna was 10-weeks-old, and I just woke up and I thought, "I can't feel my legs". Because I don't want to. I don't want to get up, walk and get out of bed. I thought if I don't do something for myself now, it's going to be that downward spiral into darkness.'
'But I thought, "You need to get out and do something", and then went online and looked for a counsellor. If I hadn't got out of bed then, I'd have got a lot worse."
Jenny split from her first husband Toby Baxendale in 2009 and has since met a new man called Martin. Jenny told us a romantic story of how they met while she was hungover sitting with a coffee, waiting for a train at Euston Station and bonded over soup!
