Tina Hobley: I was on medication for six months and my hair started falling out

It's been a tough year and I've got a long way to go but I'm looking forward.

Soap star Tina Hobley was stunned after her hair fell out while recovering from injury during participation on TV show The Jump last year.

The actress' elbow came out of its socket and her arm was broken in two places while taking part in the show which sees celebrities ski jumping.

But while she struggled to brush her teeth and tie up her shoelaces she didn't expect hair loss.

She said: "The pain... I was on big, strong painkillers for six months - and then my hair started falling out as I had an allergic reaction. Or maybe it was the stress."

The year I've had, my husband hasn't had much of anything!

On her injuries, Tina added: "I was just incredibly unlucky, I had terrible occurring injuries.. At first they thought it was my arm, then it was shoulder and then my knee. I have had to have three operations which couldn't be done at the same time, it's been over 18 months. It's been hard for my kids to see me like that. The lowest was when both my arms were in a cast and I couldn't do much.

"I had my knee done last September. They said it was a simple ALC (anterior cruciate ligament) but when I woke up the surgeon said 'it wasn't that simple'. They gave me a new knee basically. It was much more than they expected."

Tina also spoke about her time on Coronation Street - joking how bad her Mancunian accent was.

When asked if she'd go back to the soap, she said: "Not with my accent! It would have to be as a different character! I'd never been to Manchester before I was cast. The scriptwriters kept on asking if I was going to improve!"
