The Fizz's Jay Aston talks about her mouth cancer: 'I'm here and I wasn't sure I was going to see Christmas'
THE FIZZ'S JAY ASTON TALKS ABOUT RECOVERING FROM MOUTH CANCER
In an emotional chat, The Fizz's Jay opened up about having mouth cancer, with bandmates Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan becoming upset too.
"I had my last operation in July and I'm still recovering," Jay told us. "I had to have part of my leg taken off and placed on my neck so they could rebuild my tongue. Basically, my tongue is sewn down to the bottom of my mouth so I've only got one working side. It was very painful to smile for a while. I guess it's like scar tissue."
Despite being diagnosed with the disease in June, Jay is now recovering well and looking forward to the future, with The Fizz releasing their first festive album, Christmas With The Fizz.
"I'm here and I wasn't sure I was going to see Christmas, so I'm very happy."
