Sean Maguire on his work with Oxfam and refugees: 'It's hard to say "it's not my problem."'
THE FORMER GRANGE HILL STAR SEAN MAGUIRE JOINED THE PANEL TO TALK ABOUT THE WORK HE HAS BEEN DOING FOR OXFAM.
Sean recently travelled to Lesbos in Greece with his wife, Tanya, who is pregnant, to see first hand the terrible hardships that refugees fleeing from Afghanistan are facing.
Sean said that after watching so much about it on the news, he decided he could no longer just stand by and do nothing.
'I had seen a lot of footage of children on TV. Me and my wife are parents to a two-year-old and have another baby on the way and it just makes everything a bit closer to home. These are real people. You get separated by politics and nationality, but they are humans.'
Sean worked with Oxfam to travel to Lesbos and make a documentary about the refugee crisis.
'I became involved in working with Oxfam who are a wonderful organisation.'
When the panel asked what the conditions were like Sean said that the situation was very grim.'It's like a dystopian future movie where you see the end of the world. Families of four or five are living in a tent.'
