Sarah Millican: ‘After my divorce I just threw out all of my knickers!’

SARAH MILLICAN ON LIFE AFTER DIVORCE AND MAKING PEOPLE LAUGH

There was a big welcome back to comedienne Sarah who returned to the show to talk about her new book, How to be Champion, which she describes as an advice book, where she discusses the breakdown of her first marriage.

'I bought all new knickers when I got divorced. I just decided to have all new knickers and what I should've done is waited until I had time to go out and buy new knickers!'

Jane asked Sarah if she had done anything wrong during her marriage and she laughed, ‘No… I was brilliant throughout! I did nothing wrong!’

She also talked to Jane, Christine, Nadia and Saira about growing up and discovering comedy saying, ‘I think I was quite funny at home but I was quite quiet at school, I was verbally bullied a lot so I’d get home and I’d be tap dancing badly. I used to be quite perform-y at home and it was because my parents encouraged it, that it ended up becoming my job! Comedy is a brilliant way of getting out of something, it makes everything feel a bit better doesn’t it, if you can laugh about something’

Nadia asked what it was like being married to another comedian Gary Delaney.

'It’s hilarious! We don’t battle, we have fun!' Sarah explained. 'It’s not always hilarious like if the dishwasher needs emptying there’s nothing funny about that. He does one liners so his is word play whereas mine is based on my life so if anything funny happens to us I get it!’
