Love Island's Niall Aslam talks about having Asperger's for the first time with support from Jack Fincham

LOVE ISLAND'S NIALL ASLAM TALKS FOR THE FIRST TIME ABOUT HAVING ASPERGER'S

Niall left the Love Island villa nine days into the show after struggling to cope in the villa and soon after announced he has Asperger's.

And he joined us to talk for the first time about growing up with Asperger syndrome and his decision to go public with it.

“I haven’t been open at all. That Insta post [I wrote] was the first time they found out – my best friends. I didn’t want to get labelled," Niall explained. "A lot of people don’t understand that it’s a spectrum. If you come forward and say it to a lot people, you get tarred with the same brush. I’m high functioning as well. There’s high functioning and low functioning, there’s a lot that goes into it.”

And fellow Love Island star Jack Fincham sent a message of support for Niall too.

"I want to say a massive well done to my friend Niall for speaking out about his Apserger's. Me and Niall are obviously really good friends and the fact he's going on TV and speaking openly about Asperger's is wicked," Jack said. "He has been fantastic in using his platform to raise awareness. Well done Niall, fantastic, good work."

Niall also commented on Jack's spilt from girlfriend Dani Dyer. "I'm gutted for them. I thought they were a great couple," he said. "I just hope they're happy, both of them. I thought they were the real deal."

We have autism and Asperger's helplines available here.
