Lorraine Pascale on meeting her birth parents: 'It was like meeting strangers at a bus stop'
TV COOK LORRAINE PASCALE TALKS ABOUT BEING ADOPTED AND FOSTERED AS A CHILD
She's sold over a million cooking books and is a baking goddess.
And while we love her for her cakes and buns, TV cook Lorraine is also passionate about promoting fostering as a UK government fostering ambassador.
Lorraine was fostered by several different families up until she was 18-months, before being adopted by a family from Oxfordshire.
Her adoptive parents divorced when Lorraine was three-years-old and she ended up back in foster care when she was eight for just under a year, before returning to her adoptive mother.
Lorraine has since met her birth parents and says, 'I've connected with my real parents and it was like meeting with someone at a bus stop. I called the adoption hotline before I went and they said that it's very normal not to have a connection because you basically are two strangers.'
'It was nice to see what somebody looked like who is related,' Lorraine said. 'I didn't have any expectations. I wouldn't want to do it again.'And talking of her success as a TV cook and writer, Lorraine is thankful for her unbringing saying, 'I think I'm here because of what I went through - not in spite of it.
'I'm grateful for what I've been through, it's not a "poor me" story,' Lorraine adds. 'It makes you very resilient and it makes you very appreciative. I love connecting with people... I think it's very important.'
