EastEnders' Lacey Turner shares her experience of miscarriage and journey to motherhood
EastEnders star Lacey Turner shared her experience of miscarriage and spoke about her journey to becoming a mum for the first time with the Loose Women.
In her first TV interview since giving birth to her daughter, Dusty, seven months ago, she explained how two miscarriages had left her wondering if she would ever have a child.
"The second time I had a miscarriage at exactly the same point, around seven weeks, although I was more prepared, it was more of a kick in the stomach," she said.
"Because it hadn’t worked and that's the second time, so what do I do now? Is there something wrong, is this going to take us years? Will we ever get there?"
"It got to the point where I said to Matt, ‘Let’s just forget it. We’ll get a puppy.’ As soon as we’d said that, we fell pregnant," she added.
Even then, though, Lacey was reluctant to get too excited about the possibility of becoming a mother.
"I was so scared. Until you feel kicking, you don’t know if anything is actually there. I always thought 'this might not work', I just became really laid back about the whole thing," she said.
Speaking about Dusty's eventual arrival, she said: "It was amazing. I had the most unbelievable birth."
