June Sarpong on tackling online bullying: 'The idea is to encourage young people to be cool to be nice'

JUNE SARPONG JOINED US TODAY TO TALK ABOUT HER MISSION TO TACKLE ONLINE BULLYING

June joined Andrea, Jane and Nadia today to talk about how she's recently joined forces with the likes of Kendall Jenner and Willow Smith to create an anti-bullying campaign, Be Cool Be Nice.

Talking about how brilliant the campaign is, she explained, 'The idea is to encourage young people to be cool to be nice. The book is a kind of toolkit to show you what you can do and how your words impact people - it’s really interactive.'

On online abuse, she added, 'In one way the internet has made things better, but in another it’s made things worse. You can troll people and be distant from it. Even as adults we get bullied.'

June, who turned 40 earlier this year, also discussed her new book Diversify - Six Degrees of Integration, explaining, 'It’s all about how we get beyond the things that keep us apart, and how we move beyond our own prejudices. There’s a lot of research but it’s very accessible.'
