Judge Rinder's body story: 'I put on a lot of weight in my late twenties. People would say things and I internalised it'

JUDGE RINDER TALKS ABOUT HIS PERSONAL BODY STORY

He raised eyebrows by stripping off for our men's Body Stories campaign and now Judge Robert Rinder has opened up about his personal weight battle.

‘In my late 20s put on a lot of weight,' Rob explained. 'People would say things but you internalise it. You’re expected as a man to laugh it off.'

‘There are things men say to each other that women wouldn’t,' he said. 'They rib each other rather than be supportive. There are certain taboos you just don’t say amongst women. We need to talk about it. Chances are your best mate at the pub feels exactly the same.’

Asked if gay men are more critical of themselves, Rob believes said there’s been a shift in body image for ALL men. ‘What has changed is the kind of paradigm of beauty in the media, so straight men are just as affected by body image as gay men. It used to be beer and beer bellies were expected. Now there are the likes of Robbie Savage.'

‘I wanted this to be celebrating who you are - whatever you look like, you are fabulous and beauty comes from confidence,' Rob added.
