James Bulger's mum on surviving 23 years of grief

It's still hard to live with, but you learn to live with it

Denise Fergus

As two teenagers admit to kidnapping a toddler from a Primark store in Newcastle, we speak to Denise Fergus, the mother of James Bulger - kidnapped and murdered twenty-three years ago.

Two-year-old James was abducted whilst out shopping with Denise, by two ten-year-old boys, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables. He was then brutally tortured and murdered.

Denise tells us how the recent abduction has bought back chilling memories for her, and how she is still grieving for her own son.

The James Bulger Memorial Trust was launched in 2011 - a charity which provides free holidays for children who have suffered a bereavement, youngsters who are crime victims or who have done good for others. Click here to find out more.
