Ex-Gogglebox star Sandra Martin reveals she's back on benefits: 'All the money went on taxis and takeaways!'

EX-GOGGLEBOX STAR SANDRA MARTN OPENS UP ABOUT GOING BACK ON BENEFITS

We fell in love with her telly loving antics on reality show Gogglebox but since quitting the show last summer, Sandra's life has turned upside down.

Today she joined us to talk about returning to a life on benefits after blowing her TV salary on takeaways, taxis and helping friends.

Looking back on joining the show, Sandra explained she went from benefits to nationwide fame and had head to the benefits office to explain her new job.

'I was still on benefits so I had to run down there and tell them I had a job and they went, 'I know, I've seen you",' she told us. 'Not only that, I had to get a TV license as well, cause I never had one and I'm thinking about that TV licence man watching me.'

But Sandra admitted she wasn't sensible with her money and didn't seek help on managing her new bank balance.

'The money was coming in. The bank account was big, being in the community, all my friends on the social,' she said. 'I never got help, but the money was squandering. The money went, taxis, hair, take away, friends that wanted money. The money just went. It was natural to help, I don’t regret it.'

After she quit Gogglebox, Sandra explained she lived in hotels for eight months, saying: 'I wasn't homeless, but I didn't live anywhere. I wanted to burn it all and go back to it. I'm not the celebrity person. I do lots of charity work, they don’t pay me, Sandi [her Gogglebox co-star and real life best friend] likes doing the red carpet.'

And now Sandra is looking for a new job - on TV or in a high street fast food chain!

'I would love to go in the Big Brother house but I talk too much. I can’t keep secrets, I love scandal!' she said. 'I'm doing a lot of charity work. Now without a doubt, I’d love to do a normal job.

'I would like to do plus sized modelling. McDonalds, KFC. I could do any job. I’m going to social tomorrow to collect my job seeker’s [allowance]. So I’m going to be working soon, just in a normal job.'
