Brenda shares her experience of domestic abuse: 'I found myself asking what have I done to deserve this?'

Brenda Edwards opened up about her experience of domestic abuse with the Loose Women.

She shared her story following a discussion about the impact that EastEnders' Chantelle and Gray domestic violence storyline has had.

Brenda spoke powerfully about how she found herself in an abusive relationship, which had initially seemed loving. She explained how the relationship had become physically violent and led her to question herself.

"I found myself asking 'what have I done to deserve this?'" Brenda said, telling the panel that when she ultimately decided to leave her partner, she initially didn't know where to turn.

Brenda eventually confided in a friend and was able to leave the situation. She went on to rebuild her life and make a new start in her own home.

Sarah Davidge from Women’s Aid, who worked with EastEnders to ensure accuracy on their storyline, provided practical advice for those watching who may be affected by domestic abuse.

Brenda also shared a powerful message after the show, encouraging others who found themselves in a similar situation to seek support.
