Brenda Edwards

Singer and West End star Brenda joined the Loose Women team in 2019 and has been a huge inspiration to us all ever since.

Singing has always played a big part in Brenda's life and, at 18, she began singing at local nightclubs and private parties in the hope of being spotted. Unable to secure her big-break, she worked full-time as an accounts-payable manager.

It was in 2005, whilst on holiday in Belfast, that she spotted an advert for ‘The X Factor’ auditions at her hotel and decided to sign up! Brenda made it through to the live finals of the second series and since then her career has rocketed.

Brenda has appeared in several musicals such as, ‘Chicago’, ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Hairspray’, and ‘White Christmas’. She continues to inspire us here at Loose by openly talking about her body confidence issues following her battle with cancer.

Brenda has two children, Tanisha and Jamal, but sadly Jamal passed away in 2022. Following his death Brenda launched the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust to continue her son’s incredible legacy.
