New deal for Gerrans
Simon Gerrans has re-signed for Orica-GreenEdge for a further three years, the Australian team has announced.
The 34-year-old Australian national champion joined Orica-GreenEdge from its inception in 2012 after leaving Team Sky and will now stay on until the end of 2017.
He won the Milan-San Remo one-day classic in 2013 and wore the Tour de France yellow jersey for two days in the 100th edition of the race after winning stage three.
Gerrans, who won the Liege-Bastogne-Liege one-day race in April, is currently riding in the 101st Tour, where he will bid for a third stage win of his career.
"I'm really happy to stay at Orica-GreenEdge and I want to continue winning with this team," Gerrans said in a team statement.
"I've been able to produce some of the biggest results of my career on this team and I'm thankful and proud of the leadership role they have given me.
"I look forward to the future, knowing that I couldn't have picked a better team for the next part of my career."
