As one fifth of hit-making girl group The Saturdays, Vanessa admits it will be strange to put herself out there without her bandmates.
“I am quite a quiet person and I am a closed book to the public,” she explains. “It will be nice for them to see me in a different light. Then again, they might see how crazy I am.”
The Jungle opportunity has come along at the right time for newly single Vanessa, who was looking for an adventure away from music before she signed up to the show.
“I’d actually been thinking about going travelling. I was going to go on a yoga retreat.”
So was it the lure of creepy critters that tempted Vanessa? Probably not, as she admits: “I’m scared of most things. I’m scared of heights and bugs.”
But this songstress is also ready to step outside of her comfort zone, despite her family telling her she’s “mad” for heading to the Outback. “I’m excited to see how far I can go. I am testing myself… I do think I will learn new things about myself.
“This is such a massive new chapter for me. It’s corny but it is a once-in-a-lifetime thing.”
