Occupation: SoapstarAge: 42Phobias: Bugs, spiders and cockroaches crawling all over my head.Biggest misconception you want to dispel in the Jungle: Everyone just knows me as this fictional character. I’ve always been a private person up until now.Role in the Camp: The joker who will cheer everyone up when they are feeling down. What you will miss the most: My children.Dream Campmate: Margot Robbie.
Hollyoaks actorJamie will embark on his stint in the Outback having just left the soap, and is ready for people to get to know him as Jamie, and not as his bad boy character Warren Fox, who he’s played for the past three years.
“I am nervous, apprehensive and it’s a mix of emotions. You can’t prepare yourself for this because you don’t know what to expect,” he says, admitting: “I can’t hide behind the cameras nor can I hide behind my character.”
Jamie hopes to bring some light relief to Camp, as well as helping out when needed. “I think I am a bit of a wind up and I like to play a few jokes.
“I can cook and if they want me to cook, I will do so,” he says.
While he’s definitely up for new challenges, the 42-year-old isn’t so sure about meeting the Jungle critters.
“Nobody likes bugs, do they? Spiders crawling all over your head… that wouldn’t be nice for anyone but that’s the whole point of the show isn’t it? You are experiencing something you wouldn’t in normal life.”
Marking a new chapter in his life, Jamie is ready to fully embrace the Jungle experience, though he admits being away from his children will be tough.
“That’s going to be so difficult. But they do love the show and one of the reasons for doing this is to make them proud.”
