Dennis Wise
Occupation: Retired FootballerAge: 50Phobias: I’m a bit claustrophobic, so I’m dreading any trial involving a coffin.Biggest misconception you want to dispel in the Jungle: Everyone thinks of me as a fiery character. I will be throwing my weight behind everything. What you will miss the most: My family and freedom.Dream Campmate: Elvis Presley.
Former Chelsea and England footballer Dennis has got the full backing of his family as he heads into the Jungle.
“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and I feel privileged to have been asked. My kids told me to do it. They were really excited,” he says, although he reckons some of his friends will think he’s “very mad” for taking up the challenge – and are likely to put him up for Trials for a laugh at his expense.
Our sporting legend reckons he will be able to handle the delicate dynamics in Camp, having navigated life in a team environment.
“You’ve got the different characters like the ones with a big ego and then there will be others who are easy to get on with. It’s really all about gauging the whole situation.”
This team player also reckons he will do his bit: “I’m not precious and I will be a hardworking Campmate in the Jungle. That’s what my role will be.”
But Dennis won’t be taking things too seriously, adding: “I’d also like to inject a bit of laughter in too.”
Let’s see if Dennis can make it all the way to the top of the Jungle league!
