N is for Numbers
It takes a hell of a lot to bring I’m a Celebrity... from the Australian wilderness to your cosy living room. Sure, the whines of our Campmates could probably be heard without the aid of a global broadcast, but there’s a lot more that goes into the show than just a few stars and a bucket of maggots.
Here are just a few of the facts and figures that go into making I’m A Celebrity a reality.
60 tons of scaffolding13 edit suites11 generatorsTwo satellites (in case one fails)Five miles of cablingHalf a mile of suspension bridges
There’s a crew of over 500 people, working around the clock to monitor the Jungle shenanigans and bring the show to you live each night.
The very hard-working, very hungry crew devours approximately 234kg of meat IN ONE DAY. Don’t worry, there’s also vegetarian options.
It’s not all pleasant though - during the 2013 series, our animal experts were called in to remove 46 snakes from Camp and the Production areas; and the same year, over 100 ticks had to be removed from crew and celebrities.
Over 50 cameras; a ten-hour time difference; a hideous 2:30am arrival time on set for Ant and Dec; not to mention at least a dozen celebrities ready to face a gruelling stint Down Under.
Right now though, there's only one crucial number that you need to remember, and that's when the next series start - Sunday 13th November at 9pm on ITV.
