I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here

Our favourite moments of friendship so far

The Jungle does funny things to people. You're tired, hungry and often being tested in a very bizarre environment. Our Celebs, still relative strangers, come to rely on each other as they share the extreme highs and lows of the I'm A Celebrity... experience and strong bonds are often very quickly formed.

With their normal lives thousands of miles away, here are some of our Campmates' most adorable moments of friendship so far.

1. When Jamie reassured Jennie in Walk The Plank

A rather dramatic start to their Jungle experience, said plank was 334 feet above the ground, and wow it was a shaky situation for this pair. After somehow defying gravity and stabilising himself, Jamie didn’t forget to check on his fellow northerner across the way.

“Take your time babe. Just stand on one side, you’ve got this,” he assured her as she stepped over the tilted platform. And so the games had begun…

2. When Toff explained to Stanley what a cheesestring was

Their first Dingo Dollar Challenge proved rather educational for Stanley, who revealed he’d never heard of a Cheesestring. Cue a charmingly enthusiastic explanation from Toff. “Oh you haven’t lived,” she cried, telling him: “It’s like a plastic cheese, and you peel them off so it’s a cheesy string. It’s a cheese that looks like string.”

Stanley seemed rather enthralled by the idea, replying: “That’s fantastic! Lovely.”

3. When Jennie and Shappi shared stories of their children

It’s not easy being stranded in the Outback when you’ve young children, and watchingJennie and Shappi bond over their little ones was a lovely moment.

“My daughter’s got this thing in her head… for some reason she thought ‘familiar’ meant ‘fantastic’,” Shappi told Jennie. “So she’d get really excited with her friend and go, “It’s gonna be so familiar!”

“That is the cutest thing!” said Jennie, who then had to take herself off to the dunny for a little cry.

4. When Jamie, Amir and Dennis took a bath

Bathing in Camp is no private affair this year, thanks to a crafty little seesaw mechanic that controls the hot water. As Jamie lathered up, he mused: “For anyone watching, I’ve got Dennis Wise and Amir Khan giving me a bath… all my dreams have come true!”

Cue lots of excitement, laughter and some over-enthusiastic seesawing from Jamie that nearly saw Dennis get launched into the trees.

5. When all the Campmates reunited after two days apart

Being banished to Snake Rock with only rice and beans to eat is no laughing matter, particularly while your fellow Campmates in Croc Creek dine out on the likes of wallaby sausages. When Camp Prime Minister Iain finally announced, “Austerity is over!” and the ousted Campmates returned, the sheer joy of the reunion gave us all the feels.

6. When the Campmates all comforted a tearful Iain

After being overcome by with fear in Temple Of Gloom Bushtucker Trial, Iain faced a tough time as he returned to Camp empty handed. Visibly upset by the defeat, his Campmates rallied round.

“It’s all good,” assured Amir. “You didn’t let us down mate, we’re one team.”

“He was like a broken man and it was the most horrific thing to have seen,” Becky later told the Bush Telegraph.

Jamie summed it up perfectly, stating: “It’s not a weakness it’s a strength, showing your emotions. Real men cry.”

Yes, they do.

7. Leave Amir alone!

Possibly 2017’s unlikeliest bromance, Amir and Stanley’s friendship is developing bythe day, with the author leaping to the boxer’s defence when the boys were having a laugh about Amir’s cleaning skills.

“Leave Amir alone,” Stanley told the guys.

“Me and Stanley, we’re doing everything together,” Amir laughed.

“You have brought the team many blessings,” Stanley later told him, to which Amir replied: “We need people like you in the Camp, you keep us all smiling.”

Aww, you guys!

8. When Becky and Jamie held hands in The Hole

They’re two of our toughest Campmates, but sharing a dark hole with 70 rats is a terrifying experience. Shaken by the rodents, Jamie and Becky clasped hands as they entered the final round of The Hole, before emerging victorious with a full house of stars.

“Oh my days, yes partner!” Jamie cheered.

9. When Amir chuckled at Stanley’s deflated lilo

This may seem like a less than friendly response to Stanley bursting his beloved lilo, but we all know that a friend helps you out when something goes wrong... while a best friend just sits back and laughs. That's true friendship, that.
