I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here

Joel Dommett

Comedian and all-round good guy Joel Dommett was last year's runner up, losing out to Extra Camp co-host Scarlett Moffatt. His time in the Jungle is set to continue as he brings his jokes to the Outback once again.

Has Jungle prankster Joe Swash finally met his match?

What are you most looking forward to about joining the Extra Camp team?I am just looking forward to hanging out with these dudes, it feels good. We get on so well, I feel we’ve been working together for a year, when it’s actually only been a week and a half. They're both so witty - I've spent 10 years trying to be as funny as they are naturally! It’s going to be a great team.

What are you most nervous about?I'm nervous about the early starts. It’s a very odd, weird nocturnal thing - sort of the hours of a stripper. Hopefully it will be all right and I get a few hours of sun. I just want to get a tan so bad...

How have you been preparing for the new job?I have just been practising being myself. I wake up and I just be me...I’ve been very busy doing lots of stuff - I’ve been on tour and I’ve been writing a book. I'm really looking forward to getting away and having a small break from tour. It’s obviously going to be difficult in a different way, but I'm really excited.

As a past Campmate, what advice would you give this year’s celebs?I’d say a really good piece of advice is to try and go into the Bush Telegraph as much as you can - really enjoy that process. That for me was my best friend when I was in there; it was a really fun part of the day to go in and really spill everything. It was like free therapy - if only there was a chaise longue instead of a wooden bench.

Would you rather cook for Camp once or empty the dunny every day?Cook for the Camp once. I cooked once last year. I think it’s a lot of pressure because that food is so important. One day I cooked scraps for everyone which is something that we managed to make up . You put loads of cooking oil in and mash up all the beans you have to deep fry the beans. It was so good.

Kiosk Keith or Medic Bob?Medic Bob because he keeps you alive. Kiosk Keith just teases you.

What one item will you not be able to live without in the Jungle?I won’t be able to live without Joe Swash and Scarlett Moffatt.

What one item will definitely be packed in your suitcase?Shorts. Last time I went to Australia I forgot to pack shorts - massive error. I totally forgot and it’s like being on the surface of the sun. I just packed jeans.

If you could go back into Camp, would you?No I don’t think I would. I really enjoyed it for that moment. I’ve got such good memories of it, and I am so glad I survived it with people that I really like.

Who is your favourite ever Campmate?Larry Lamb is my favourite person. I wouldn’t have survived it without him.

Who would be your fantasy Campmate?Jesus. He can turn water into wine. It would one big party all the time.

Tell us something people might not know about you.I am really good at handstands.
