Extra Camp: All About Emily Atack
We obviously didn’t send enough critters Emily Atack’s way because our reigning Jungle princess is back for more! The 2018 Jungle runner up is joining Joel Dommett and Adam Thomas as your shiny new Extra Camp presenter line-up.
We’ve made sure she’s got extra luggage allowance for the giggles, and let’s not forget those screams…
Hi Emily! How are you feeling about joining the Extra Camp crew?
I’m nervous about it, I’m not going to lie - hosting a show this big, someone has trusted me to do that! Number one: idiots, but number two: thank you so much. It’s just amazing and I’m so lucky I’m being able to dip my toe in all these new things.
I’ve got the best around me to learn from and I just know it’s going to be an amazing experience. For me, going back to a place that completely changed my life forever... it’s a good omen, you know? The Jungle is just full of good vibes for me, nothing but amazing memories and I can’t wait to create even more.
You’ve been working with Joel, and he’s the experienced one when it comes to Extra Camp. You’re basically work married now right?
Yeah, we are! I think what works about it is that there is zero sexual chemistry whatsoever, we’re like brother and sister. We repulse each other, and I think that’s why it kind of works.
You and Adam were known for being screamers in the Jungle when it came to the critters. How are you feeling about going back to the Jungle in that respect?
Hopefully I won’t have to face any of it...? I think the great thing is I’ll be watching the new Campmates and just know what they’re going through. But I also get to go back to a beautiful apartment every night, so now I’m going to experience it the luxurious way. I bloody deserve it... I’m sorry, I had to drink turkey testicles!
And what a year it’s been since you left the Jungle!
I keep thinking about it and bursting into tears because I’m feeling so nostalgic about it. I’m so happy I’m doing this because I would’ve watched the new series and just felt so heartbroken and gutted that I’m not a part of it. This way I get to be a part of it again and I’ve got such a connection to that place - it makes sense, it fits.
So who would be your dream Extra Camp guest? If you could have anyone?
Get Kathy Burke on! She’d be opinionated, she’d be fair, she’s funny, she’s not afraid to say it how it is. She’d be great.
And do you have a favourite ever Campmate?
As a viewer I used to like watching it for the madness and the drama, so it’s got to be Gillian McKeith.
And do you have a favourite Jungle moment?
Well obviously there was Jordan and Peter Andre’s romance. What fascinates me about that is that I do not understand how anyone can fall in love in those circumstances - everyone stinks, and it’s the most unsexy and non-flirtatious environment ever. We were saying that when we were all in there last year - you all become family, you feel like blood brothers. It feels like more than, “oooh I want to rip his kecks off.” His smelly kecks off!
You really did feel like a family last year didn't you?
Oh yeah we’ve got a WhatsApp group, we all stay in touch. Joel said recently that there are only about 200 people on this planet that understand what it’s like to be in there, in that situation, and that really stayed with me.
Even if you didn’t get along in there, you have still shared that incredible experience and I don’t think you could ever forget that. I just feel so lucky I got to experience that.
What can we expect from Extra Camp this year?
It’s hard shoes to fill, don’t get me wrong. Scarlett and Joe have been absolutely incredible and they’re so amazing in their own right but the lovely thing about a show like this is you can put your own stamp on it. Joel and I have already got a really nice dynamic, and with Adam too I want people to feel like they’re sat with us watching the telly, chatting about the main show on the sofa and just having a laugh. I want them to feel like they’re in the pub with us having a laugh and we’re just chatting b****** and having fun.
