Everything you need to know about the epic first episode of I'm A Celeb!
There were glam Celebs, there were piercing screams, we had Ant & Dec, dizzying heights and Jungle critters crawling into in places Celebrities didn't even know Jungle critters could crawl...
It could only be the epic return of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
We couldn't be happier that it's back, not least because those snakes were a LOT easier to handle from this side of the TV screen...
Here’s what happened as our Celebs landed in the Jungle for the first bumper episode of the series!
It took approximately 3 minutes to drop the B word
What happens when you leave Nigel Farage and Josie Gibson alone in the middle of the scorching Outback?
Brexit chat, of course.
The ex-politician arrived feeling very level-headed about his looming Jungle experience.
‘It’s an adventure, it’s a challenge. It’s not going to be easy but why not?' He said.
‘It can’t be worse than Brexit,’ Josie quipped back.
It was only a matter of time.
We can never unhear Nella Rose’s screams
Nigel, Josie and YouTuber Nella Rose barely had time to slap on the sun cream before they had to face the messy business of the Hell Holes challenge.
Nella was not ready for the Outback life. ‘It’s giving Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibes’, she said ahead of her first 'adventure'.
And the adventure went from 0 to 100 real quick when she immediately came face-to-face with a huge snake.
Did someone say Yella Rose?
Sam Thompson loves a hug almost as much as he loves Fred Sirieix
Was it the fear of being 100m in the air on a windy Gold Coast day? Was it relief of being outside after being locked in a hotel room for days? Either way, Sam’s hugs were REALLY hugging as he met some of his fellow Campmates.
But he had an even more adorable fanboy moment when TV presenter Fred Sirieix made his entrance.
We can't wait to see how this develops, because there really is nothing like the promise of cleaning the Dunny together to really build a friendship.
Fred hasn’t got time for small talk
Fred is a man of action, and even meeting Ant and Dec didn’t distract him from his concerns about why he had been dropped 100m in the air in front of a sinister metal structure hanging off the side of a building.
‘We’ve all made it! We’re here!’ Mused Dec as they said their hellos.
‘What’s this? Stop the small talk, what’s this?’ Fred said as he pointed to the terrifying situation in front of them.
A fair question, tbh.
Professional critics don’t miss a beat
‘It’s lovely to see in the flesh how much pleasure you take in pain,’ Grace Dent noted of Ant and Dec as they explained the terrifying Pole Position challenge.
There are no flies on Grace. Well, at least not until she’s gone a few days without a hot shower in Camp.
This year's Celebs are made of strong stuff!
Our high-rolling Celebs have only had a tiny taste of what's to come this series, but there were some impressive performances from our glam and groomed group on day 1.
Josie took one for the team and went IN, face first, on the Hell Holes, while Nella and Nigel somehow remained calm(ish) as they got up close and personal with some ssssseriously scary new friends.
Fred and Danielle Harold got their stars for Camp with just seconds to spare, and the shakes on Danielle were uncontrollable as the reality of being suspended 100m above the ground set in!
Sam realised with some excellent timing - 100m in the air and hanging by a rope - that he in fact has a fear of heights. But that didn’t stop him and Grace working together to bag their stars too. Go team!
The first Bushtucker Trial of the series did NOT disappoint
Jamie Lynn Spears, Marvin Humes and Nick Pickard all made their entrance via skydive (casual), but before the adrenalin could leave their bodies, the first Bushtucker Trial of the series entered the chat.
Part trivia puzzle and part horror show, a giant mechanical spider was the least of the trio’s worries in The Temple Of Doom when a combination of green ants, mealworms, cockroaches and ACTUAL spiders joined them.
But that didn’t stop Marvin, Jamie Lynn and Nick securing all six stars, giving the Celebrities a full house of 10 for their first meal in Camp!
The Camp's got a top chef in the ranks
Every Camp needs a cook who knows his way around a kangaroo’s behind, and Fred stepped up to the challenge with his usual charm and some exceptional knife skills, which left us thinking this lot might actually have a chance of getting a feed over the next few weeks.
Just how creative can you get with rice and beans, Fred?
Josie gave Jamie Lynn a British Celeb-ducation
A This Morning host from Bristol meeting the star of Zoey 101 was a colliding of worlds only the I’m A Celebrity… Jungle could deliver.
The earlier Bushtucker Trial had nothing on being schooled in the world of British Celebrity for poor Jamie Lynn!
We’re already hyped to see Nigel and Nella take on tomorrow’s Bushtucker Trial!
Your votes mean that Nella and Nigel will be heading off to the Jungle Pizzeria for a slice of the action in tomorrow’s Trial!
Something tells us Ant and Dec aren't about to serve them a Four Cheese special…
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV1, ITVX and STV.
