I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here

All About Ruthie Henshall

West End star Ruthie Henshall was persuaded to join the I’m A Celebrity... line-up this year by none other than her friend (and former I’m A Celebrity... Campmate) John Barrowman!

“John was the one who told me I should go in,” she reveals. “And so he is to blame, whether it’s good or bad!”

She can’t wait to meet the other Campmates, but admits she's not used to playing herself!

“It’s one thing to be yourself with people who know and love you but who are you with people you don’t know? It’s going to be odd as I’m so used to being a character!”

When asked what her fellow theatre stars will think when she appears on the show, Ruthie reckons they'll be roaring with laughter. “I think they will fall off their chairs!” she says, adding: “I don’t think it’s expected from me. It’ll be a huge surprise!”

The Olivier Award winner also revealed she’s had practice when it comes to nasty surprises and the likes of living in a spooky castle - thanks to a prank played on her by a couple of Royal friends!

“I got jumped out on by Prince Charles and Prince Edward when I was having a cook-out with them! They told me there were ghosts in this particular place and when I went to the toilet with a candle because there was no electricity, they waited for me to come out and then jumped out on me!”

While there's no royalty in the Castle this year, someone WILL be taking the I'm A Celebrity... crown! Does Ruthie think she's got what it takes? "It would be lovely to win as then you'd feel you had got through it all and risen to every challenge,” she says. But winning the series isn't the only thing on her mind.

"If there was somebody rather lovely and delicious to look at around my age who was single as well, then that would make it all the more lovely!" she laughs.
