All about: James McVey
Life in the Jungle is going to be much tougher than performing live in front of thousands of fans with his band, The Vamps, according to the group’s guitarist and vocal singer James McVey.
Confessing he’s stepping completely out of his comfort zone, James explains he wants to test himself and take on something very different to what he’s normally used to. “It’s only just starting to sink in,” he says. “But this is a dream come true for me. It’s probably the only show I’ve watched throughout my life so I’m really excited to be part of it!
James says his band mates are fully supportive of his decision to take some time out from touring to go on the programme. “They’re really excited. They think it’s going to be great even though they were surprised initially as they thought I would struggle! But they have been so supportive and I’m glad they are.”
The 25-year-old doesn’t have too many phobias other than a fear of holding a spider in his hand and he says he will tackle as many Trials as possible for the Camp.
Describing himself as someone who’ll do their best to get on with everyone, James thinks the only other challenge he’ll face is boredom. “That’s going to be the biggest struggle for me,” he admits. “I’m not very good with boredom.”
As for The Vamps’ fans, the pop star reckons they will be pleasantly surprised. “I think they’ll find it hilarious,” he says, smiling. “I’ve wanted to do this for years and now I am.”
