8 things we learnt from Day 2
It was a big day in Camp, with a big disappointment as the first Bushtucker Trial of the series didn't quite go to plan. We're still very much getting to know our Celebs, who can just about remember what life was like a whole 36 hours ago when they weren't hungry. Here's what we learnt during last night's show...
1. You need to put deodorant on in order for it to work
“I stink, and we’ve only been here 24 hours!” exclaimed Toff, who no doubt is used to emitting a much sweeter aroma. “I was straight in the shower because my pits, it was actually unbearable,” she said, before revealing to Rebekah that she hadn’t put any deodorant on. Ah.
2. Stanley just wants to shower in peace
Every minute in the Jungle has proved to be a learning-curve for Stanley so far. But Jack also learnt a valuable lesson when he accompanied the author to the shower. “Instead of having a nice little chat and a catch up, he just asked me to stand by the bath,” he sighed.
The man just wanted a little peace, Jack. Don’t take it personally.
3. Boxers get scared too
He may be a tough man in the ring, but coming face-to-face with a jungle python was a bout too far for Amir, who uttered the famous phrase, “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!” on the very first Bushtucker Trial of the series, losing any chance of a meal ticket. Much to Toff’s disbelief. “Why did you say it? We’re not going to eat!” she exclaimed, which leads us nicely on to…
4. Toff doesn't like losing
“If I’m honest I’m really disappointed. There was no way I was going to leave that box,” she said after Amir quit the Trial. “I’m devastated, I could actually cry,” she later told Camp.
5. Breakfast is more important than Brexit in the Jungle
Never one to not feed her curiosities, Toff was keen to probe Stanley on he and his son Boris’s differing stances on Brexit. But it turns out Stanley has entered the Jungle to escape all political chat, telling her: “My thought is, the people in Britain must be so heartily sick of the whole Brexit debate now… it’s absolutely wonderful I do not have to think about Brexit at all.
"We have to think about breakfast," he mused. "That does seem to be a much more serious problem.”
6. Apparently we all love the strong and silent type
Our favourite store owner Kiosk Keith is back! As chatty as ever, he at least did supply the Campmates with some much-needed biscuits after they won the Dingo Dollar Challenge. Plain ones mind, but biscuits all the same.
7. Fiz really is a household name
As the Celebs spent some quality time sharing life stories around Camp, Jennie revealed she’s been in Coronation Street for almost half her life. “I was star struck meeting Jennie,” Shappi later told the Bush Telegraph. “I used to watch Coronation Street all the time. I kept having to stop myself calling her Fiz.” Awww.
8. The concept of vlogging can take some explaining
Vlogging is still a relatively new phenomenon, and certainly one that Stanley hadn't heard of before entering the Jungle. "You are what's known as a vlogger? I don't know what vlogger stands for," he admitted to Jack, who proceeded to patiently answer his questions. "I ought to make a YouTube... do you have to apply?" the ex-politician asked, adding: "I am just stunned by this."
We're ready for your YouTube channel, Stanley. So very ready.
