5 things we learnt from Day 8
In a day that involved the first Live Trial of the series and a shakeup in the leadership of the Camp, we learnt lots about our happy Campers.
1) Jungle birds are annoying
Poor Rita has had enough of the Jungle birds waking up. She said: “This morning there was a bird from so early on that sounded like a dog.”
To prove her point, Rita proceeded to imitate the dog-like bird and ask her fellow Campmates if they could also hear it. Anne agreed saying, “I wish they’d just chirp like birds.”
2) Emily can’t dance
You know when someone says they can’t dance and you presume that they’re overexaggerating? Well, Emily Atack isn’t.
To pass some time in Camp, Fleur offered to teach Emily and Rita a dance to one of the songs she covered on The X Factor. Emily’s declarations of not being able to dance were quickly proven so true that John tried to call her away from the dance floor.
He said: “Fleur looks awesome and Emily… just needed to come with me. Bless her heart, she really wants to do it and she wants to learn it, it just wasn’t meant to be.”
3) Noel gives good life advice
When talking to Emily about relationships and learning to accept yourself, Noel said: “You’ll never ever have a meaningful relationship with anybody else whilst you don’t have a meaningful relationship with yourself.”
Such lovely words to live by, Noel.
4) John and Sair are great cooks
With Nick now the leader of the Camp and unable to help with daily duties, the cooking baton was handed over to John and Sair.
It took no time for the new chefs to get down to work and cook a dinner of squab with squash blossoms and yellow pear tomatoes. The dish was a huge success and highly praised by all the Campmates - even Nick.
Later in the Bush Telegraph, Fleur said: “I’m not saying anyone cooked better than anyone out here alright, but tonight was the best meal that we’ve had so far.”
5) Fleur knows her X Factor artists
During last night’s Live Trial, Fleur was in her element as The X Factor theme helped her and the Campmates score maximum minutes to be used in tonight’s Trial, The Quest.
In the first round of the Trial, Emily and Malique had to sing songs by X Factor artists while they modelled mouth guards. Fleur’s music knowledge was off the charts and she managed to correctly name every song and artist.
