What was that, Mr President? ?

Donald Trump has baffled many of his 31 million Twitter followers overnight by tweeting a seemingly unfinished and nonsensical statement.

In what is assumed to be a typo or autocorrect failure on his device, the President of the United States tweeted just after midnight in his local time saying: "Despite the constant negative press covfefe".

The tweet - which was retweeted over 128,000 times before it was deleted around six hours after posting - has become the subject of much mirth on the social network website.
