Meatballs a la Greque
Tonia's meatballs are served with her best tomato sauce and brown rice - a far healthier alternative to meatballs with spaghetti and sugar-laden shop-bought sauces.

(Serves 4)
Ingredients:
1 quantity of Tonia’s best tomato sauce500g extra lean minced beef1 tsp ground cinnamon1 tsp ground turmeric½ tsp chilli powder (optional)1 onion, finely chopped1 tbsp olive oilSea salt and freshly ground black pepper200g brown rice
Method:
Put the brown rice in a pan of boiling water, and follow instructions on packet for cooking
Use a food processor to finely chop and bind the minced beef, spices and onion together then form the mixture into 16 equal balls, the size of a walnut
Heat the oil in a large pan over a medium heat, add the meatballs and cook for 7-8 minutes or until nicely browned all over. Remove the meatballs and put on a plate.
Add the tomato sauce to the pan and bring to a gentle simmer. Return the meatballs, part-cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.
Adjust the seasoning to taste and serve
