It's the biggest - and definitely the most important - debate of 2018. Which way round should cream go on a scone?

The row started after the National Trust tweeted a picture promoting its Mother's Day cream teas - but some users were dismayed that it got the toppings the wrong way around - or did they?

Devon MP says it's cream first

On social media, users joined the seemingly unsolvable debate. One Twitter user wrote: "I can't believe I'm actually putting this but Piers is right!!!! Got to be jam first anyone putting cream first need arresting by the food police!!"

Another added: "I fear I will be mobbed here but for me it's definitely cream first (has to be clotted) If you put it second it mixes into the jam too much because its denser"

A poll on the social media site revealed how fans of Good Morning Britain really feel about the dilemma.
