Teenage waitress told to wear skirt and makeup 'for punters'
I was worried about losing my job if I didn't wear what they wanted me to wear
An 18-year-old waitress from Ayrshire has been awarded £3,500 after winning a sexual discrimination claim against her employer.
Erin Sandilands joined us this morning to describe how her employer told her to look "more feminine" for the punters, saying she simply needed to look "better". Erin tells Susanna and Ben that although she knew it was wrong, she didn't want to lose her job.
However, Erin did refuse to comply with the unacceptable demands and was subsequently told she wouldn't be given any more shifts.
Laura Bates from the Everyday Sexism Project also joined the debate to argue that workplace sexism has a disproportionate impact on women - but agreeing that men aren't immune to the issue.
