The 'Songaminute Man' singing to beat Alzheimer's
Music memories are often retained when other memories are lost
Former Butlins Redcoat Ted McDermott has been a singer all his life, performing in pubs and clubs in the North West. In the past three years, his memory has deteriorated as he battles Alzheimer's disease - yet his gift for remembering songs remains.
Known to many as the Songaminute Man, the 80 year old's family have encouraged him to carry on singing to help his memory and Carpool Karaoke-style videos of him have had millions of views worldwide!
We're joined by George McManara from the Alzheimer's Society and Simon McDermott, who is Ted's son and has been instrumental in making sure his dad just keeps on singing.
