Plain package laws for cigarettes
Cigarettes will today receive a radical overhaul as they are sold in standardised plain packets bearing stark health warnings for the first time.
The new law comes into force today in a bid to discourage smokers and prevent young people taking up the habit.
Cigarettes will be sold in standardised green packaging and will not feature any company logos
Graphic health warnings must cover 65 percent of the pack
Packaging of hand-rolled tobacco must also be in the same drab green colour and contain a minimum of 30g of tobacco
Sales of 10 packs will also be banned
