Nearly a million reported crimes are being dropped every year
Nearly a million of reported crimes are being dropped with little or no investigation every year. That's according to official police figures obtained under a Freedom of Information request.
More than a third of burgularies are screened out - and in some areas, almost half of all offences are filed and not allocated to an officer.
The Home Office said they expect the police to take all reports of crime seriously, but members of the police force responded and said resources are too stretched to meet their demands.
