Mum left in agony after pain relief fails

It was a pain I couldn't really imagine before

Danielle Parry

First-time mum Danielle Parry lay in agony as she felt doctors move her organs around searching for the source of a blood clot after giving birth to her baby boy. The young mum was also suffering from undetected appendicitis which made her pain even worse.

Danielle had to be induced at 37 weeks due to medical complications but after 24 hours of natural labour, she went in for an emergency C-section. She gave birth to Gruffydd at Wrexham Maelor Hospital on June 27.

Shortly after he arrived safely, doctors noticed bleeding and investigated. But as they did the anaesthetic wore off. Danielle said doctors took four attempts to numb her abdomen in preparation for the C-section, which rendered her unable to speak.

It was then as the drugs wore off that Danielle felt a surge of pain in her stomach, as doctors tried to stem the bleeding. Howevery Danielle was too woozy from the drugs to tell medics she could feel what they were doing and that she was in agony.

She joins us now to tell more about the ordeal as we find out what happened.
