'I got a good hiding but they're not alive, I am still'

It was just an instant reaction. Whether I’d do it again, I don’t know.

Ray Larner, who took on terrorists during Saturday night's attack in London Bridge

The Millwall supporter who has been dubbed the 'Lion of London Bridge' after taking on three knife-wielding attackers spoke to Good Morning Britain from his hospital bed today.

Roy Larner was stabbed eight times as he fought the terrorists, telling them: "**** you, I'm Millwall!".

He told Piers and Susanna: ”I got a good hiding from it, but they’re not alive, I am still.”

When asked what made him fight the attackers rather than run away, Roy joked: “Maybe I’m a bit brain dead.”

He continued: “I don’t know, I wish I knew. When people enjoy themselves on a night out, you don’t want to let these people win. You don’t know who they are. I didn’t even see they had the fake suicide vests on or nothing. It was just an instant reaction. Whether I’d do it again, I don’t know.
