Beauty queen beats online bullies who tormented her over her acne
As social media bosses are grilled by MPs over online abuse today, Rachel Crawley appeared on the show to encourage other victims not to let online bullying destroy them.
Rachel, 22, has suffered with severe bouts of acne since the age of 16 and has previously hidden herself away, missing Christmas and New Year gatherings because of her breakouts. After setting up an Instagram account to bravely chronicle her skin's journey, Rachel was beaten down by comments from online trolls including 'disease face', 'Yuk', 'Oh my god look at your face'.
However, Rachel's beaten the bullies by becoming a beauty queen finalist.
MPs on the Home Affairs Select Committee are taking evidence today from social media companies on their response to online abuse and hate crime. Facebook Twitter and Google will be quizzed about the responsibility they should have for policing the vast amounts of racist, homophobic and misogynistic abuse and threats online.
