Man who was brutally beaten in his own house forgives attacker

If burglars broke into your house and left you with severe injuries would you be able to meet them and hear what they have to say? Paul Kohler, a lecturer from London, has done just this. After a brutal attack at his house in 2014 by four Polish men, he was left needing facial reconstructive surgery. All four perpetrators admitted aggravated burglary and were sentenced to several years in prison. In an attempt to put the violent incident behind him, Paul visited one of the men in prison where he bravely shook the man's hand and offered forgiveness.

So what is restorative justice?

Restorative justice focuses on the rehabilitation of offenders through reconciliation with victims and the community at large. The Justice Select Committee says restorative justice should be a legal right to all victims.
