Thousands are waking up to find their operation is cancelled
I don't think fines should be necessary
New research from the Patients' Association has found that thousands of people are waking up prepared to have surgery - only to have their operation cancelled on the day.
More than 90,000 patients reportedly have had to wait more than 18 weeks for routine procedures, leaving many feeling fed up, in pain and financially worse off.
Bed shortages is biggest reason for the cancellations, with those whose lives are at risk prioritised.
