Olly Murs says 'heartbreak' inspired his new album and single
I wanted to come with something a little bit ballsy, something for the fans to get their teeth into
Singer Olly Murs appeared on the show to talk about his latest single You Don't Know Love and the painful process he went through writing his fifth album. Olly spoke candidly to Kate and Charlotte about the forthcoming release explaining that during the songwriting process he was experiencing a lot of heartache and pain. The gritty songs were triggered by his split with his girlfriend of three years, model Francesca Thomas.
Out of respect for Francesca Olly says he played her the single and the album to avoid her hearing it on the radio. For Olly delving a bit deeper into his creative process has been a revelation and he sites Adele as an influence, "This is the first album, or single, that I had the chance to write about a real experience, like being heartbroken."
Olly also took time out to chat to Richard Arnold about the new Star Wars film, it turns out our Olly is a massive fan!
