Does the colour of your hair matter in a workplace?

A Silicon Valley CEO has revealed she was advised to dye her naturally blonde hair brown to be taken more seriously as a businesswoman.

Eileen Carey said she had to change the colour of her hair, swap contacts for glasses and dress herself in a more gender-neutral way to attract more investors for her start-up company.

To discuss this hot topic we were joined by journalist Julia Hartley-Brewer, who believes that blonde women are taken less seriously in business because of society’s stereotypical views.

To fight fire with fire, Gemma Godfrey joined the debate and said she doesn’t believe hair colour affects the way women are treated in the workplace and thinks that success is down to the confidence of the individual.

Charlotte Hawkins and Susanna Reid were sitting on either side of our outspoken presenter Piers Morgan, so he had to be on his best behaviour... but Piers being Piers, he still managed to ruffle a few feathers with his comments, prompting Susanna threatening to pour hot coffee over him!
