This year, for the first time, The Prince’s Trust is working with Good Morning Britain to shine a spotlight on the impact a positive role model can have on a young person’s life, through the Mentor of the Year Award.
About The Prince’s Trust Awards
The Prince’s Trust and TK Maxx & Homesense Awards recognise the achievements of disadvantaged young people who have succeeded against the odds, improved their chances in life, had a positive impact on their local community, as well as those who have played a part in supporting the work of The Trust. The award ceremony is on 6th March at the London Palladium.
The finalists
After a long list of 50 nominees and then a judging panel including GMB's Kate Garraway and Mo Adineran winner of the Voice 2017, we've narrowed it down to 4 finalists and now the GMB viewers can vote for their favourite.
Finalist 1 - Bob
Retired police officer Bob, used his wealth of experience in the police to positive effect to help disadvantaged young people to find work. 19-year-old Helen has suffered with mental health issues for most of her life and has been in and out of psychiatric units. She says Bob has completely changed my life. He is always there and never gives up on me.He's been mentoring at the Trust for 4 years.

Finalist 2 - Ryan
Ryan is 27 years old and he came through the Prince's Trust mentoring programme and is now a Mentor himself. Having suffered from depression himself after his dad died, he knows first hand how to help vulnerable young people. He now works in retail as a trainee manager and helps people to find employment. One of his mentees (also called Ryan) says of him "He is an inspirational amazing guy.

Finalist 3 - Alison
A retired teacher, she's mentored and helped to counsel over 100 young people to fulfil their true potential. She says that it's a slow burner and she will support a young person for as long as it takes. Like Robin, who after suffering from depression never thought she would find the courage to follow her dream of becoming a florist. Alison helped her every step of the way. Robin says Alison is truly an amazing person.

Finalist 4 - Yasin
Yasin uses his love of music to help young people fulfil their potential. He has mentored over 80 young people. Ben who is being mentored by Yasin at the moment talks about the impact he has made on him and his mum Ellie says the knock-on effect for the family has been wonderful.
